Vision is one of the greatest gifts of life. Yet in many villages and tribal belts of Gujarat, thousands of people silently suffer from poor eyesight, cataracts, and untreated eye conditions—simply because they cannot afford treatment. For daily wage earners, even blurred vision means lost livelihood.

At Shivam Charitable Trust, we believe “clear vision leads to a brighter future.” That’s why since 2014, we have been conducting Free Eye Check-Up Camps across Gujarat to ensure that no one is left behind in the darkness.

What We Do

Our Eye Care Project brings professional ophthalmologists and trained volunteers to villages where eye care is often a distant dream.

  • Eye Check-Up Camps: Vision testing for adults & children.
  • Distribution of Free Spectacles: Helping students study better & elders work without strain.
  • Free Cataract Surgeries: Conducted in partnership with hospitals.
  • Awareness Drives: Educating people about eye health, hygiene, and preventive care.

Impact in Numbers (2014–2025)

  • 90+ Free Eye Check-Up Camps conducted.
  • 20,000+ people screened for vision problems.
  • 7,500+ spectacles distributed free of cost.
  • 3,000+ free cataract surgeries performed in partner hospitals.
  • 100+ doctors & volunteers involved across camps.

Real Impact – Real Stories

In a 2022 camp in Patan, an elderly woman named Meenaben, who had been living with severe cataract for years, underwent free surgery through our initiative. When her bandages were removed, she burst into tears seeing her grandson clearly for the first time. She said, “Mujhe laga tha main andhere mein hi mar jaungi, par aap logon ne mujhe roshni wapas di.” (“I thought I would die in darkness, but you gave me back the light.”)

Why This Matters

For children, clear vision means better focus in school.

For farmers and workers, it means livelihood security.

For elders, it means dignity and independence.

And for entire families, it means hope and happiness.

Partnerships & Growth

Our program is powered through collaborations with ophthalmologists, hospitals, local panchayats, and schools. This ensures that beneficiaries not only get checkups but also follow-up treatments and surgeries when required.

Future Goals (2025–2030)

  • Expand camps to every tribal belt of Gujarat.
  • Reach 50,000+ screenings and 10,000+ surgeries in the next 5 years.
  • Introduce mobile eye clinics with modern testing equipment.
  • Build a statewide eye care volunteer network.
At Shivam Charitable Trust, we are not just improving eyesight—we are giving people a chance to dream, work, and live with dignity again.
